Heating the steel

The production of a good quality horseshoes always starts with the careful selection of the right grade of steel. There should be a balance between the durability of the shoe and the ease of shaping of the shoe by the farrier in order to create the perfect fit. Steel is purchased in either long strips or in coiled form. After conducting our standard quality checks the steel is cut into exactly the right length needed for the very next model to be produced. Each piece of steel is then heated to 950ºC which is the perfect temperature for forging and shaping the shoe in any of the high tech Mustad Production Lines on our premises.
